California beaches VS South Beach, Miami?

I was in South Beach, Miami this summer and I loved it..water was warm, clean...only complaint is no waves...but still nice...

I'm thinking of going to California next summer....what are the beaches like there? I heard the water's a lot colder than Florida...any suggestions on which places in particular in Cali?

cali beaches are amazing!!! they are a tad colder but compared to the 100 degree dry air it feels amazing! Check out San Clemente(i visit most often), Dana Point, Venice Beach(the boardwalk!), Laguna Beach(great shopping), Newport Beach! We have so much to offer! The waves are always nice and most of these are cute beach towns with beach houses, lots of shopping, and interesting(and delicious) places to eat!!

What are some good beaches?

Ok i live in greenvill sc and im wondering what beaches are good other than myrtle beach, and charlston willing to go on a 10-15 hour drive at most any opinions
