ffdude1234

I'm new to MGO but people are so ridiculously cheep its just not even fun to play. Every time i die i swear its from a head shot, its like everyone has a auto head lock on i mean im even get shot in the head in the middle of dodge rolls. or better yet when im acrossed the map and get head shoted with a damn pistol I really dont understand how i can even get good at this game when everyone online is so Fu**ing cheep.

Metal Gear is my fav. series, but i also think online play is horrible, i prefer a fps like halo or cod.

I only play Metal Gear for single-player because it has an awesome story.

Metal Gear Solid 4 Online Play?

I've heard that the Metal Gear Solid series is an overal GREAT series, but what I'm looking for is a good online game for the Playstation 3. I'm really into those game that involve alot of teamwork. Where communication is KEY to winning a match. I'm really into that kind of stuff because it helps promote teamwork and gives you the chance to meet new people. I have SOCOM Confrontation, which is a pretty cool game as well. But I'm asking for help on other games like this. Is Metal Gear Solid a game like this? Haha, I might seem like a rambling fool, I'm sorry for that. I really like the aspect of teamwork and would like a game in which people are constantly in communication. Is Metal Gear Solid 4 like this? How's the game in general? It also has only FOUR maps [I don't intend to buy the packs anytime soon.] will that debilitate the joy of playing?

Answer
yeah metal gear is pretty awesome.

the online was great from what i played (i played the online for just over 10 hours or so total). there is the potential for an amazing amount of teamwork. watch the multiplayer trailer on youtube and it might give you an idea of the kind of squad based combat they seemed to have in mind.

the games i was in were just more run and gun affairs, but i could definitely see it being a very calculated battle. if you were to join a clan or something, which the game itself supports very well, it could be right up your alley.

you have constant quasi-contact/info on your teammates via the nanomachines in each of you. if a teammate if under fire, or gets knocked out or something, you get notified of much of whats going on elsewhere, when it comes to your team. and get this:
after 10 hours of play, you unlock a needle, that, if you can sneak up on someone and stick them in the neck with it, you can hack the other teams nanomachine network and see thier info as well! (thats how i know how long i played, i gave up shortly after i got this)

from the lobby, i would usually just go to the quick play or whatever auto-match option, but i looked through the server lists a few times and there was lots of clan tryouts and things like that.

the game also has one very interesting feature that i never got to try. there is an online 'training' mode, where one person acts as an instructor, and teaches a class on better aiming and gun handling, or tactics and strategy, or...well whatever they wanted! then they would give all participants either a pass or fail, and eventually, i guess you could, yourself, be given certification, by the instructor, to be an instructor yourself. that feature alone blew me away when i first found out about it. unfortunately i only played the online for a week or two, RIGHT after MGS4 came out, so there werent really training sessions going on yet, but i imagine they would be by now.

there was also a few really interesting game modes as well. there was one where its team deathmatch, basically, but one player gets to be snake, and he's got the octocamo, and the team that kills him wins, or if nobody finds him, he wins. there was a few other neat, original ones as well.

theres definitely more than 4 maps, because i can remember 5....but only 5.....so there may only be 5...yeah i looked it up theres only 5. but they're all really good....except one that i didnt like, but i think it was just personal taste.

rent the game or something, so you can get a feel for it. the only thing, is that the signup is a bitch. in addition to your psn account you also need something called a 'konami id' and also a metal gear online sign in...its a real pain....but you only have to do it once, then it'll auto sign in for you and you wont need to think about it ever again
