Do women wear underwear underneath their swimsuit in Japan ?

I've heard from my friend who travels to Japan a lot that there is a special underwear just for swimsuit.
It this true ?
If so how often do women in Japan wear those underwear ?
Is it common for them ?

yes, haha. when i bought my school swimmers they came with those underwear things, and almost every woman wears it cuz its cleaner that way and you wouldnt need to wash the swimmers afterwards.

yeah is common in Japan because the hair is dark and with lighter colour swimsuits and bikini's the hair is more likely to show through when the swimsuit or bikini is wet,
not sure if any other countries do this sort of stuff

I am studying here but never go to swimming pool. Anyway, I think I will go for it soon then I wonder that is it normal to where one piece swimming suit here? In my country, bikini is not popular much so, I feel familiar with one piece. But in Japan, I want to buy only one and use it for a long time. So, please advice me which type is normal here and where to buy? for not expensive one. If you could approximate price, please tell me. Thank you very much in advance and any other advises are appreciate.

Most large department stores will have a ladies clothing section and you can find swimsuits there, Also many sports clubs and gyms also sell swimsuits if the gym has a pool. No idea what they cost but i expect between 3-4,000 yen for a decent one. in Japan swimsuits are called "mizugi".
