How does coed basic training work?

NERD420Eli

I served in the army (active duty) and went into a combat arms MOS, so I had to do basic training with all males. But since my wife is getting ready to enlist and she can't technically go into a combat MOS, she has to do something else. what are the chances of her going to a coed basic training squadron/brigade? And how does a male and female basic training operate?

Answer
As others have stated they sleep in different buildings. When you get basic you'll be out into a division. Some are all male some are coed. From there you will go into a building which is nothing but large rooms. Each room has its own bathroom which include community showers and what not. They are large and sleep about 100 people and yes there are enough toilets and sinks.

Coed divisions will be split up when you go to bunk. That would include sleep, shower and so on.

Everything else meals, exercise training and so on will be done together.

And honestly you will not have time or enegy to flirt or mingle with the women. Basic is literally up at 6AM and go until 9PM then you sleep.

Are coed army training bases easy compared to Fort Benning?

Optimus

i heard that if your MOS involves combat you'll go to Fort Benning because its just for guys, and i also heard that because of that its considered the toughest and most extreme, also for that matter why cant women have a combat job in the army

Answer
All basic training installation have drill sergeants who are all trained to the same standard. You will receive all the same training on the important issues. But they get yelled at more at Benning than at Relaxin' Jackson.

Women can't have combat arms jobs because they are physically weaker, because they have more sensitive hygiene issues that preclude them from staying weeks and weeks in the field, and because of the emotional attachment men generally feel towards women, in which people think men would risk their own safety and their unit's safety by going to rescue a female comrade in danger.

Fort Jackson showers coed?

Q. I'm a girl. Do I have to take coed showers with a bunch of men and women in basic training? What about the toilets? Do I take a crapper in front of men as well? Is there no privacy? What's the real deal?

Answer
This is absolutely false. The US Government could never get away with allowing this at any military base even training facilites. Where did you hear that? Someone may be trying to scare you.
There is lots of fears associated with basic training and many are not true. Yes, it is touch and yes, you need to perform almost as well as the men but this is plain false.

My son in in the Army and I used to be a boot camp commander for the cadets (high School and college age) in the Civil Air Patrol and Air Force Auxillary. I know what goes on there and they are very careful to follow the strict guidelines. We used to have our boot camp at an Army Base and they had private facilites for the men and women (separate). And the baracks are separate in many cases.
If you are off to basic training, relax, it will be tough but you will come out a soldier.

Is basic training for the army reserves coed? ?

Jaxtons' M

My boyfriend has to go away for army reserves if he gets in, for 2 months and 2 weeks for basic training. Is that coed? Will guys and girls even be on the same training campus? Thanks!

Answer
The question is asked why are you worried about him going off to Basic? If you can't trust him when he is gone for 2 1/2 months then how can you trust him any other time. Yes there will be females present in the location he is at, just like there is females in every other business, company, organization, etc... out there which he CAN be training with, working with and associating with. While in Basic they will NOT though be in the same barracks, males will be where males are suppose to be and females will be where they are suppose to be. They will not have the time or energy to do anything.

By the way it isn't a training campus, it isn't college, this is a JOB
